Thank You for creating this page, yes,yes and yes, Winnipeg desperately needs a shift in thinking about Public Transit. I take the bus every day and it horrible. No bus shelter near my house, heavy traffic and ponderously slow connection times. A Sub Way would be so ideal for this great city. We need it and we need it now not 50 years from now.

I don't think an underground subway is viable in Winnipeg. It'd be way to expensive to build for such a small city. Especially a city with such a small population density. Calgary and Edmonton have over a million people (CMA) and they don't have an underground subway. However, they do have Light Rail Transit, which Winnipeg should look into. Also, I believe a Bus Rapid Transit system could work very well for the City of Winnipeg.

Dear TRUWINNIPEG citizens and tourists ,how are you today?

I hope y'all are enjoying your bus rides and transfer stop waits in the rain and (snow winter blowing snow trips).

C'mon Winnipeg, get with thee 21st century and THINK BIG and improve your mass transit system.

With ever increasing fuel prices and global warming and pollution for automobiles, isn't it time to be more productive and efficient in moving people and services?

You want to see how an efficient Mass METRO system works, go to Montreal and enjoy the ride.

IF YOU BUILD IT,THEY WILL COME !

sincerely yours,

Diane Fortin and Terry Wasik
Cornwall, Ontario, Canada

P.S. Go Big Blue and Moose !

BRING BACK THE JETS !!

Hello , i'm coming from Europe , i'm living in Winnipeg for 8 months and it's obvious that we miss a subway . For every reasons that we all know ( winter time, long connections time between buses , gas pollution, long distances between different areas ) , we do need a fast transport way .The best is the subway ...

Time for something new. Buses are pathetic. We live in a city and we should start thinking like a city. This is not Brandon.

I'd be willing to sign, since it would be a very progressive move for Winnipeg. If the original plans cost too much, or just impossible at this point, I'd suggest that they at least create a few subway stops downtown (2 - 3), one stop connecting to the inside of Polo Park, one stop going to the Zoo, one connecting up with University of Manitoba, The Forks, and finally one connecting up with St. Vitel Shopping Centre. This would help boost economic development and encourage people to use transit more often.

If you haven't already thought about it, get some people out to the major locations, as suggested above to get signatures and possibly while people are on their way to work. I'm sure they would have at least a few minutes to sign the paper, and it would benefit them greatly, especially during the winter time, since I am one of those people.

A subway system for Winnipeg would go a long way towards correcting the decades of poor and shortsighted city planning.
